NYX for Betsey Johnson Fashion Week 2010

I saw on NYX website that they did the make up for Betsey Johnson's show! I really like Betsey Johnson for her daring, yet playful, looks so I was intrigued by this pairing of bright (grass) green and pink. It looks pretty good on this particular model, no?

The problem, I think, is that such colors don't translate well to all "races". I think it's ridiculous to assume that a multi-cultural group of models can all pull off the same colors.
I just don't think that bright pink and green look good on darker skintones. Do you?

"Is it 5:00 yet?" Office Questionnaire

I grabbed this from Renee from The Thrifty Poet because all I seem to do lately is work anyway (six days a week of waking up and thinking what am I going to wear today?)

Food
What is your must-have office snack?
I bring a variety of snacks to work, but I try to bring stuff that doesn't make noise when I chew (this is crucial if you're on hold on the phone or not trying to attract attention to yourself). Some of the stuff I took this week include raisins (I'm a little anemic so iron is always good) and dried pineapple/papaya.

How many cups of coffee do you drink every morning?
I try to stick to one little cup, but I'm used to drinking one big mug of coffee so I allow myself a second little cup. The plan would be to bring a big travel mug to work for the colder months (for tea) and since I keep breaking mine (translation: yobo broke my Starbucks one, and his own) I've been eying this one:

It retails for about $6.99 at Marshall and comes in white, pink, and stripes ;P

Caf or decaf?
...WTH is decaf? Hah. That's like the medicine I take when I'm sick. Unheard of. I'm a full time caffeine addict.

What’s your favorite lunch spot when eating out?
What I do is I wait till around 2PM so I can enjoy a quiet meal, but if I'm starving I walk out, take the back entrance (stairs) up to the top floor and eat at the staircase. One of these days I might even be bothered to climb to the rooftop.

Style
What’s your favorite outfit to wear to the office?

Black slacks, some sort of top, blazer/jacket and some jewelry to complement. Maybe. I try to be a minimalist at work. Less thinking in the morning = good for me.

Do you keep a sweater at work at all times?
I used to keep a black sweater at work (now it's in the car) because I suck at remembering stuff like this in the morning. Even today I was freezing in the office because the AC is so ...high.

Whose style do you most admire at work and why?
The ladies in the other building, whom I don't see everyday, but whenever I do they are all so finely dressed! Today I saw one of them with this feathery vest! Looked like mini peacock feathers! It sounds tacky, but it looked classy on her ;D
Alice & Olivia @ Shopbop for $396

What are the worst office fashion faux-pas?
Well, we have a dress code so it's not that bad, but we also have casual Fridays.  I'm not going to point any fingers or draw pictures in your mind, but let's just say I think regardless of the day wearing leggings with a normal length top is inappropriate for work.

Miscellany
Do you go with reusable or paper/plastic for your lunch sack?
...I don't make my lunches, or my snacks so I don't know if this applies? I used to have tupperware for lunch but that was when I still managed to cook.

Do you listen to music at work? If so, what?
I don't. Other people do and that's bad enough. Sometimes I might request a song or two when I get used to the flow.

What’s your desk décor like?
I don't really get to have "desk decor" at this point. At our office my boss prefers a clean professional look, which means nothing on your desk.

What is your work or office-style like?

MNG by Mango at JCPENNEY

I was so surprised to see this at JCPenney of all places! I am not a fan of JC Penney but I do <3 Mango! The last time I shopped at Mango was over the winter holidays when I visited family in Finland. They have Mango stores there and in Sweden, which is always great for shopping! If you aren't familiar with Mango, the style is similar to Zara, only a little less professional. See the video here.

The prices at JCPenney aren't to my liking, but that's because I can be really cheap when it comes to shopping. Here are some of my top pics nevertheless:
If you don't have one for the season yet, I think this is a great option! It looks sleek and cute at the same time! Personally I'm more interested in where do they sell brown shoes like that?
They have quite a selection for jackets; gray, blue, black, tan...Different lengths and shapes as well. This is the one I recommend because it's more timeless and you can make it work for any occasion.
And this is the trench I would get if I were long and thin in shape. Only I'm not so I have a much more "fit" version by Guess. This trench is beautiful if you have confidence in your shapes already.
I like all their skinny pants, they would look great with just about any top for work or just to look "smart". This pair is hot this season though, the whole 3/4 length, gray, tweed-like material just screams FALL/WINTER.
Note the unique sleeves! I think this sweater is adorable! Love the detailed sleeve, the little bow tie in front, and the puffy sleeves!

I've been eying animal patterned cardigans for a while now. I think it's a great no-brainer outfit (it matches with...black? I got tons of black...) for days when I have no brain.

If you're into clubbing or cocktail parties, this top is ideal! Look how shiny it is!

And if you're totally not into clubbing, or just like the secretary style, like me, then you'll love this too!
This is pretty cute! Even unbelted it can be worn with a cardigan or something. ;)
Most of their dress/skirts are very work appropriate, or basic (think flanel), but this one stood out to me. It's satin-like and sexy! Would be a great LBD for any formal or evening occasion!
LOVE the color. I really want this for winter. I have similar scarves in black and brown, but I heart scarves. I wear them almost everyday even in this season.
Honestly all of their shoes/boots are great, but this pair's most unique. It's also the most expensive but for real leather--who can blame them?
I think this bag would be great for work/school! It looks large enough to fit everything, and it's just so fashionable I think I could match it with just about everything I own!

I'm seriously thinking about that bag and maybe checking out JCPenney's sales ;P Would you buy MNG by Mango for JCPenney?

Vera Wang Supports THE CAUSE at Kohls

I've been MIA since Labor Day, I know, but you have to understand that when your spouse suddenly returns from his business trip and the next day you go camping in the middle of no where with no electricity for two days; all you want to do when you come back is shower and sleep. Oh, then there's work too, but it's not as if I like doing that. ;P

I have stuff that's gradually been arriving in the mail that I would love to show you! I purchased them all last month when I was bored out of my mind from not going to any stores (well, there was that one vintage store but I already told you about that).  This month has so far been shopping free (well, I did maybe buy myself a new phone, but that's only cause my old one has been dying for a while now), but since opening this email alert from Kohls I'm not so sure I'll be able to resist:

Vera Wang's Simply Vera Collection at Kohls supports women's breast cancer 100%!  And what's better than everything being priced at $5 and $10 each?!

Here's what I want:

Slippers $5 (sold out?)

...Looks like I need to head over to Kohls, what about you?
