Contemporary Spring Look Book

What I specifically want to buy....


Sheer-ish floral black leggings from Topshop. I like how it's toned down, not amazingly floral or lace or whatever. Just dark as leggings ought to be.


White lace. I want to buy white lace since I lost my shirt from winter in Heathrow T-T


JCREW: Loose crop pants. I have crop pants that are sort of loose but I want this kind. I like the outfit.


JCREW: High-waist crop pants! in black! I am officially hunting for new black pants now....High waist only :D


ZARA: The brown pants! I have one pair of brown and its flared. Not happy. Need more brown.


ZARA: Trench! I haven't decided if I'm going to buy a khaki trench this Spring. I have a grayish for my nude coat and then I have a black trench so I might pass on this..

A few other trends I plan on passing on include the striped jacket/blazer because I prefer the nautical uniform look from last spring, to be honest, and the khaki/brown shorts because I prefer tweed (which I saw Gap has~). I realized I already have leather wooden clogs from years back (Italian, in light brown with fringe) so I don't need to purchase any. I recently purchased a white lace blouse, which I told yobu I would sell, but now I'm having second thoughts so...we'll see. I saw a good in one in the store yesterday too but I'm not sure I'm brave enough for complete sheerness or the bulkiness layering might result in. As I've mentioned previously, I might skip out on the denim shirt trend because I just don't see myself wearing...blue like that.  I've owned quite a few military jackets in the past, and they've never stayed with me past two seasons so I don't think that I'll be buying another one unless I see one I must have. The last time that happened it was Ralph Lauren (denim too!) but I passed because of the price.

My Spring Lookbook

So I know most of you have already seen Spring runway shows, but I'm the type of person who can only focus on the ima and therefore can't think as far ahead as two seasons later.  Therefore I looked at Spring just now as I'm considering putting away my winter clothes (I have spring break, it seems like the appropriate thing to do), and I won't look at fall until after August.

I'm not very good at explaining why I choose things, so don't ask about my weird combinations, I tried too hard and really should've stuck to putting all designs from one show together instead of separating them like this...

Black with NO "splash of color"

Clearly black is very "in" every season, I read that the reason for this is the poor economy. Major designers want to ensure that they will have enough sales so they've designed "staple pieces" that will outlast the season. What does this mean for me? I get to continue wearing black all summer and no one can complain that I'm not springy/summery enough!

And yes, I can still wear pants! Yay for high-waists!

Burberry's still the best for trench coats, or any coat for that matter, but looking at the rest of their collection I felt they were lazy. Why? Because every single outfit was belted! I got frustrated looking at all the non-matching military belt.

Few notes on my favorites: I only looked at "ready to wear" (versus couture) because I am not apt at visualization and so I have very little patience with "concepts" that I have to waste brainpower implementing.  I did not look at all rtw runway shows either, because I don't get paid to do this so I briefly looked at unfamiliar brands on style.com and went indepth on the others. The only one I looked at and liked and yet failed to include in this post is Ralph Lauren, because I already looked at it previously and don't feel like reiterating.  Everything noted here are pieces that I would like to wear, to copy, to find copies of so it's not as if I didn't like anything else, it's just I don't see myself wearing the rest.

But I want it!

I don't follow the release of luxury products, not because I don't like them, but for the simple reason that I'll feel bad when I realize how much I want something but cannot afford it. This is the same reason I pass by all the D&G, Prada, and YSL stores at the outlet (yobu, however, always manages to drag me in so that he can browse). I know that if I'm ever going to purchase a YSL purse it's going to be at TJMaxx or something so why bother checking out stores I can't  afford? I also don't like the way sales people in these high end stores (I'm referring to outlets for the actual stores have better trained sales people) treat me, or just look at me; they either dismiss me as non-important or they watch me like a hawk just incase if I do something wrong. I usually walk out feeling violated.

Today I was browsing Ebay and I discovered this beauty:

Romeo and Juliet Couture

Since I have posted a Romeo & Juliet piece for sale in a previous post I figured I might as well introduce the brand in case some of you are unfamiliar with it.

Romeo & Juliet Couture was founded in 1999 for the European Market. In the US it can mostly be found at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Fred Segal. They have had a denim line is 2006. If you would like to see what celebrities have worn their pieces you may check out their proud list.

Their Spring 2010 collection includes many of the key pieces for trendy attire, such as striped top (knit sweater vest), cut up leggings, ruffles, jean jacket, lace, tye dye, tiered ruffles, floral pattern, jean vest, jeans and even Michael Jackson rocker style. I'm not able to save or link to the pictures but please view the lookbook for all of the above.

Unfortunately their online shop is not up yet (it looks as if it is, doesn't it?) so I looked around and found a few pieces from previous collections that I liked:

They seem to have a lot of what I call "doll" dresses (because they all look like Alice in Wonderland's dress...) but I like this one :3

I love their simple, yet classic, pieces like this sheer shirt with puffed sleeves.

I really like this feathered dress. It has cocktail written all over it! I imagine that it would look amazing on someone with cool short hair. x3 It comes in silver too...

Having the all too common Unikko print (I've seen fakes running all over town, not to mention Asia) made translucent in the form of a cover-up at the beach or your pool is a start. If only they could take that silk and make even better use of it.
